     On July 14, 2023, the School of Public Administration and Policy of Dalian University of Technology was officially established. This is the first time that the university has set up an entity unit of the School of Public Administration and Policy, since the university opened the undergraduate program of Public Administration in 1999, which has achieved a major transformation of the public administration discipline-related staff from separation (Department of Public Administration, Institute of Science and Technology Management, MPA Center, Department of Law) to an integrated institution. The university established the School of Public Administration and Policy in order to promote public administration discipline and make the public administration discipline an outstanding example of "a high-quality discipline of liberal arts".
     The discipline of public administration of DUT has undergone more than 20 years of development. From its predecessors such as the Department of Public Administration under the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (established in 1999), the Department of Public Administration under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (established in 2010), the Institute of Science and Technology Management, and the MPA Center, it has grown into an important base for talent training, scientific research, and social services in the public administration discipline in Northeast China and even the entire northern region.
     The School of Public Administration and Policy currently has one first-level discipline, public administration, which includes administrative management, public policy, urban and rural public governance, and digital public governance. The school adheres to the development notion of efficiency, fairness and excellence. In order to promote the high-quality development of public administration, in accordance with the overall development strategy and deployment of the university, the school will adhere to the development strategy in five aspects for a long time:
     First, we will stick to leapfrog development of disciplines. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, discipline ratings must achieve leapfrog development; during the 16th Five-Year Plan period, the School of Public Administration and Policy must form the main base for the development of public administration disciplines in the North and even in the whole country. The second is to adhere to the teacher- and student-centered approach. Teachers and students are the core of the school's development, and everything should revolve around the development of teachers and students. Our goals are to improve teachers' enthusiasm and creativity, to upgrade teachers' benefits, and to educate innovative talents.
     The third is to promote the institutional reform of the school, including reforms in discipline construction, talent cultivation, personnel management, financial management, etc. Promote discipline development and talent cultivation through institutional reform.
     The fourth is to keep taking the initiative and action. Carry out the top-level design in the construction of the school and the discipline to organize scientific researches and top talent training systematically.
     The fifth is to continue to serve local economic and social development. Scientific research and talent training of the school should be combined with the local development needs of Dalian and Liaoning. Serving the Northeast of China is the unshakable responsibility of all the members of our school. Attributes of our discipline and majors have enabled our closer cooperation with local government and co-existence and co-prosperity with the local government.
     The School of Public Administration and Policy is an open and inclusive community, which is also vibrant and thriving. We warmly welcome outstanding talent from all over the country to join us and open a new chapter together in the cause of public administration. We hope that outstanding students across the country will notice us and choose us. We will strive to provide first-class faculty and teaching environment for talent training. Cultivating talents for the Party and the State is our fundamental mission.
